Mercury Retrograde: Re-Thinking New Years Resolutions

We rarely get "do-over" days - and yet, here we are! Mercury - the Planet of thinking, writing and day-to-day expression - has been in a retrograde movement for a while now (since 14th of January to be exact) and today it will pass through exactly the same point in the sky, where it was on January 1st, 2022.

When Mercury retrogrades, it means that it appears to be moving backwards from our vantage point (Earth). It is an illusionary movement but can have some actual (and quite disruptive) consequences (that "broken computer", "lost package" or "canceled flight" probably happened during Mercury Retrograde ;)). It is also a period when we are encouraged to go "inwards" or "reflect back" on the topics that the planet represents - trips down the memory lane, meeting people from the past or coming back to abandoned ideas and projects are quite common during the planet's backward movement..

Mercury has been doing the "one step forward, two steps back" dance since the very beginning of this year. On the 2nd of January, it transitioned from Capricorn to Aquarius, and half way "in" started to move "backwards". Yesterday it re-entered Capricorn again and guess what? -"some-when" today, it will hit the exact position it had on 1st of January!

How do you feel about your personal vision of 2022 so far? If the answer is somewhere on a scale from “meeh to yuck” this may be your lucky day in hell ;) Today you get a sweet spot in this weird construct we call “time”, which is perfect for reviewing your New Year's resolutions, long-term goals, and dreams & wishes.

So find yourself a window with a view, take a moment, and a cup of coffee (or whiskey - no judgment) and go through your 2022 intentions: Are you happy with them? Do they still seem relevant for you? Is there anything you’d like to change or add? Look within, be honest with yourself and do all the necessary “updates” (or even a complete “make-over” if it feels needed).

Mercury's retrograde movement will last until 4th of February - on that day the planet will "station direct" (it will appear to be standing still on the Night Sky) and start to move "normal" again. It will travel through the last portion of Capricorn constellation and re-enter Aquarius on the Valentine's Day.

While traveling back to Aquarius it will yet again hit that magical "New Year's Day" spot (12th of February) and give you the last chance to rethink and re-evaluate your goals for 2022. Spend it on a final brush-up, using an updated perspective that you've gained during Mercury's retrograde.

Happy Do-Overs!
