Sun in Leo: The Return of The King

*The Sun Moved into Leo on 22nd of July and will stay there until 23rd of August

The Good, The Bad and “The king, that needs to grow his balls”

Leo is perceived as the King of the Zodiac and when I think about this archetype, one thing that immediately comes to my mind is a “The Lion King” movie. All three “main lions” in this Disney’s Classic, perfectly encapsulate all the dimensions of a Leo sign and show him on his best, his worst and… well, just say, his “confused days”.

On his best days, he exhibits all the positive traits of generous, warm-hearted, wise and fair Mufasa, but if you meet him at his worst, you’ll experience arrogant, stubborn, lazy and self-centered evil uncle Scar. And then there’s Simba, our main protagonist, who needs to grow his confidence (and balls ;)) to become what he needs to be - THE KING.

This is my Kingdom. If I won’t fight for it, who will?

At one point in “The Lion King Movie”, Nala, the love interest of Simba, talks with him after he finally decides to return to the Pride and restore it to its greatness.

“It’s awful, isn’t it?”

“I didn’t want to believe you”

“What made you come back?”

“I finally got some sense knocked into me. And I got a bump to prove it. Besides, this is my Kingdom. If I won’t fight for it, who will?”

While writing this, Simba’s question plays on repeat in my head: “This is my Kingdom. If I won’t fight for it, who will?” which is such a powerful metaphor for “This is my life. If I won’t steer it into a direction I want, who will?”

Sometimes we don’t want to believe (or see) how much we have neglected ourselves and our own needs, until the Sun moves into Leo and finally knocks some sense into us. Our “bump” can be small or big, depending on our starting point and on how much we have lost our own identity, sense of self, ability to create, enjoy life and have fun.

So, how big is your bump?

Are you doing what you dream of doing? Are you happy with your life, your career, your relationships? Can you think of yourself besides being a mother, father, someone’s lover, employee, business owner or a friend? Is your inner light shining bright or is it dimming like the last burning candle on a melting leftovers of a birthday cake?

Sun moving into Leo will not only shine on the uncomfortable corners of your life related to you as a self-standing human being, but will also sparkle a fire to ignite your passion for living, creating and - last but not least - ruling over your own faith.

The Return of the King

The Sun - our archetype for life energy, creativity and individuality - rules Leo, so when it moves into its constellation, we can really FEEL it, and there’s no better way to describe it than “The Return of the King” .

The Sun has finally arrived to the place where his own rules apply. This means that the Leo in you (and your birth chart) will get activated and you’ll feel a huge wave of creative energy and hedonistic impulses taking over. But what is even more important, Sun in Leo will awake the leader in you and will motivates you to “take the wheel” and drive your life towards the direction you want it to go.

Leo is a masculine, fixed fire sign, which stands in a stark contrast with the preceding feminine Cancer, who is adaptable (mutable) and flowing (water). With Sun in Cancer we acted more receptive, passive and tended to focus on other’s people needs (vacation with kids or visiting parents, anyone?) but when Sun moves into Leo-town, we may suddenly feel the need to switch gears and start initiate the things that WE want to happen. In other words, “fire” will ignite your passion, “masculine” will push you to take more initiative and “fix” will make you more determined and focused on your goal.

The Sun, together with Mercury (that moved into Leo three days prior) will also activate your creative side and a need for self-expression (read more here). Play with ideas, try new things, push your boundaries and go for things you truly desire.

This is YOUR time to shine and follow your voice, so use it well.

(and watch “The Lion King” - you may be surprised how inspirational it is ;))

Happy Leo Season!
