Gemini Season: Cosmic Garden Party

One day, a little stone - who for all his life has comfortably rested on a grass bed of a blooming garden - woke up and decided that he wanted to be a butterfly.

So he shed his rocky layers, grew some wings and started to fly. As he had spent his entire life grounded in one place, once he got an ability to move, he felt an irresistible urge to compensate for his so-far-dormant existence. And so he started to fly around (driven by the curiosity, typical for a 3-year-old who asks “why” every 10 seconds), and to learn about the world around him.

He wanted to talk with everyone, to be everywhere and to learn everything.

Sometimes he was waking up in places he didn’t remember how he got to, with a huge headache and a beautiful (or not so beautiful ;)) stranger butterfly next to him. On other occasions, he started his day by exploring the secrets of flowers and plants around him, only to realize that by the end of the afternoon, he had just learned how the steam engine works. And although he sometimes felt tired and overloaded with the information and the number of social encounters, his curiosity for the world was stronger. So he kept on flying - and maybe he didn’t build anything solid and worthwhile during that time, but he learned a lot.

And surely he had some fun!

Dramatic Energy Shift

It’s a huge shift from what we have experienced in a Taurus season, mainly because we are running into a completely different set of polarities, modalities and elements. We are shifting from a feminine (nurturing, receptive, passive) into masculine (active, driven, assertive). We are changing from fixed into mutable - which means we are now very ready to make changes in our life.

Last but not least, we are transitioning from Earth into Air: things are about to get very active! Earth is stable and grounded, but air is literally “all over the place” and this is how many of us may feel this time of the year.

If Gemini was a social event...

If I were to describe the Gemini energy in a social and seasonal context, I would say that it manifests as those sweet, warm, we-are-just-about-to enter-summer evenings, where people traditionally gather in front of neighbors’ houses for an evening tea (or something stronger), to talk and exchange information.

Imagine that these are the times pre-Internet and TV, so the only form of entertainment and a way of getting information is other people. Most probably the conversations they had went something like this:

"How has gardening been going for you?"

"Are your tomato plants as big as mine?"

"What have you done to repel snails from your salad?"

"Have you heard that Mary from the other village got pregnant?"

"Should I grow a moustache to attract girls?"

The moustache guy gets advice and a secret ointment from aunt’s hilarious friend who just came to visit the village two days ago. The ointment is supposed to speed up his facial hair growth but it turns out to be plain honey. Local bees start to gather around his face as he runs around in circles, waving his hands like a lunatic; everyone laughs. A girl next door helps him to wipe the honey off his face before the bee stings him - after all, it was supposed to be a harmless joke.

The evening continues in a relaxed and light atmosphere. Some people start singing, others laugh, and yes, there is also a place for a little gossip. The “moustache guy” and the girl who helped him wash off honey, get cosy and watch the sunset together. She truly enjoys his arm around her shoulder although the memory of her boyfriend coming tomorrow to visit (that no one knows about yet), spoils the romantic moment a bit.

But then she decides to forget about him tonight and to enjoy the moment.

After all, they are not married, now are they?

So, how will you feel during this Gemini Season?

You will definitely feel mentally stimulated. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, a planet of thinking patterns, rationality and reasoning. You will try to figure things out, using your intellectual and mental capacities and be extremely good at it. It will almost feel like your thinking system was upgraded and is able to process more information than ever. Just be careful not to go overboard - IT REALLY IS the season to capitalize on your enhanced mental capacity BUT be mindful about your intuition and try to keep space for her as well.

Communication time! You will feel a desire to talk, converse, exchange ideas and gather opinions. As it works both ways, your phone may be constantly ringing and buzzing with news from people near and far. Most of the information won’t stick for long though - remember, we are dealing with mutable, ever-changing, energy - so an input from one person can suddenly shift your train of thoughts or interest within seconds.

Your curiosity will peak. Just like a little butterfly-child, wanting to learn as much as possible about the world and people around you, you will feel a desire to read, listen to podcasts and learn about everything that you find remotely interesting. You may feel an impulse to take a short class or course to upskill yourself and it’s a perfect time to do so - after all, Mercury governs schooling and education.

You may feel more social and open to meetings and community gatherings than ever. If you have a feeling that roots will start to grow out from your buttocks soon, now it’s a perfect time to get up from that couch and go out! Parties, networking events, home visits - this is a perfect time to get social and reach out to friends or groups that you haven’t seen for a long time. A little flirtation here and there is also on the horizon, so be careful not to overdrink it ;)
